Optometrists are doctors of optometry (ODs) whose primary responsibilities are to diagnose, treat, and prevent problems related to eyes and sight. These eye care experts also perform vision tests and analyze results to identify anomalies and recommend treatment such as corrective lenses or medication. Their job descriptions may also include performing minor eye-related surgery and providing patient care before and after larger procedures.
