Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe

We are a large multi-specialty ophthalmology practice dedicated to serving the vision needs of our patients. The ophthalmic clinical staff fulfill a vital role in assisting the physicians in patient care. The employee must be comfortable speaking directly with patients and physicians about medical procedures, be at ease with needles and injections, and be comfortable in assisting in medical procedures. Physical requirements include the ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours per day, the ability to keep arms and hands at eye level for up to 5 minutes, the ability to reach above head-level frequently. Will train.

Educates patients and answers questions about ocular diseases and treatments, surgical procedures, and pre- and post-op care
Reviews and interprets clinical and appointment notes to provide appropriate work-up and testing
Properly operates diagnostic equipment to obtain consistently accurate and precise measurements
Completes thorough comprehensive exam work-up in 15 minutes or less
Understands and correctly identifies medications
Prepares and sets room for in-office medical procedures, assists physicians during patient care
Is a good clinical citizen
Assists in medical research studies as needed
