Position Summary
A Lead Surgical Technician assist in organization and daily function of the operating room for all surgical cases in accordance with established federal, state, and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures. They will also assist nurses and physicians in delivering the highest standard of patient care available.
Roles and Responsibilities
Monitor and direct the activities of assigned surgical techs in the OR to achieve optimum performance, efficiency and quality outcomes.
Oversee the ASC’s sterile processing function.
To utilize specialized knowledge of surgical techniques while giving direct and indirect patient care.
Assists in set-up of operating room with all necessary equipment and supplies.
Assists with the preparation, transportation, and monitoring of patients.
Provides assistance to team members, physicians, and anesthesia personnel as needed (i.e. reliability, initiative, work relations, training needs).
Reviews physicians' preference cards and updates as needed.
Ability to handle stress associated with prioritizing multiple tasks.
Selects equipment and supplies in an organized, cost effective and timely manner.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
Experience Requirements
3 years of hospital main operating room experience desired
Effective communication skills; oral and written
Familiarity with standard surgical instruments and equipment
Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and Medical office software
Strong organization skills
Self-Motivated with problem-solving skills
Education Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Current BLS certification required
Certification as a surgical technician and proof of registration with the State of Washington
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
