Job Description
The ideal candidate will hold DESE licensure in Moderate and/or Severe Special Needs. This position
requires academic, interpersonal and organizational skills. This candidate should be familiar with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and should possess an ability to modify curriculum to meet the academic needs of students. This position requires an individual who can collaborate with staff and who is reflective of their teaching practice.
LIFE SKILLS Program Teacher- Special Education program for students with medical needs
Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment & Teaching All Students
Organize instruction around essential questions or core learning objectives; teach for understanding and/or mastery; provide students with practice and extension opportunities as needed.
Differentiate assessments based on each individual student plan. This may require developing alternative assessments.
Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is practiced
Develop MCAS Alt Portfolios
Family and Community Engagement
Build a partnership with families, encouraging their active participation in students' learning.
Communicate student progress and development to parents/guardians
Professional Culture
Work collaboratively with general education teachers, grade-level teams and other staff, to plan, share student work and ensure that instruction is aligned with identified curriculum and standards.
Additional duties as requested by Principal, Coordinator of Special Education and/or Director of Student Support Services
