We are seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician Supervisor to join our growing team. This position offers top-dollar compensation for candidates who demonstrate high competency, compassion, responsibility, and reliability.

At Eye Physicians & Surgeons, PC, we provide comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, treating a wide range of conditions including:

  • Cataracts
  • Glaucoma

Position Summary

As an Ophthalmic Technician Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting our physicians by leading a team of technicians in conducting clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient care. This role involves supervising the team in preparing patients for exams, performing diagnostic tests, maintaining exam rooms, and ensuring accurate EMR documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Take patient history, including chief complaints, medications, past ocular and family/social history.
  • Measure visual acuity, pupil response, motility, and perform IOP checks (applanation, I-care, tonopen).
  • Conduct specialized testing: OCT, Humphrey visual fields, fundus photography, corneal topography, meibomian gland imaging.
  • Perform refractions (auto and manual).
  • Assist with minor in-office procedures and surgical tray prep.
  • Administer eye drops and assist with fluorescein angiography when needed.
  • Document all findings in EMR and manage doctor’s schedule.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Review pre-op and post-op instructions with patients.
  • Triage phone messages and patient communications.
  • Schedule patients and follow up on prior authorizations and prescriptions.
  • Call/document no-shows and assist in daily schedule prep.
  • Maintain exam room cleanliness and stock supplies.

End-of-Day Duties:

  • Sanitize equipment and exam rooms.
  • Organize technician stations and prep for the following day.
  • Lock office and shred confidential documents as needed.

Expectations & Flexibility

  • Be available for rotating Saturday shifts.
  • Be flexible with hours – standard is 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, but may extend with emergency patients.
  • Help in other roles when needed to support clinic flow.
  • Participate in inventory checks, expiration date audits, and surgical instrument prep.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team-based, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with ophthalmic testing equipment and EMR systems.
  • JCAHPO certification preferred; CPR certification a plus.
  • Physically capable of lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
