The Optometrist will be responsible for examining patients to determine the nature and degree of vision problems and/or eye disease. Primary duties will include but are not limited to: Examining patients and performing various tests to determine visual acuity and perception; prescribing eyeglasses, corrective lenses, and create a surgical treatment plan based on exam and testing results for Lasik and cataract patients.

Job Summary:

The Optometrist will demonstrate strong skills in medical care, focusing on our lasik and cataract pre ops and post ops along with collaboration with our Ophthalmologist and technical team.   Assures the performance of all clinical staff meets the appropriate standards of quality, and for directing and leading efforts to improve the efficiency of clinical operations.

Responsibilities:

1. Examine patients for vision issues and conduct proper diagnosis to diagnose vision issues or diseases that affect eye sight.

2. Ensure proper vision correction with glasses or contact lenses, as well as diagnosing, treating and managing ocular disease and providing surgical co-management.

3. Test patient’s eyes for perception issues and to check if a patient is suffering from a condition that does not enable them to correctly analyze dept.

4. Responsible for prescription of corrective glasses and contact lenses.  

5. Develop an effective treatment plan and provide pre-op and post-op surgical care to patients who require or elect surgery to correct vision issues.

6. Educate and counsel patients on different eye surgeries, including but not limited to refractive surgeries, cataract surgery, cross-linking, and glaucoma surgery.  

7. Communicate with the Clinical Administrator on the needs of the clinic to ensure proper patient care and adhering to the Company core values. 

8. Responsible for examining potential lasik and cataract patients during their screening or evaluations to help determine their candidacy for the particular surgery.

9. Responsible for seeing 20 - 30 patients a day including all eye exams, contact lens fits, medical issues, office visits, glaucoma, lasik screenings, and cataract patients, pre surgery checks, and post op visits.

10. Ensures that patient care is consistent with the standards set by the Medical Director. 

11. Ensuring that the clinic operates within the industry standard of care to insure minimal liability 

12. Reports and monitors clinical and surgical outcomes

13. Plans clinical staff and training programs with Clinical Administrator.

14. Responsible for promoting and fostering an atmosphere of teamwork and excellence among staff

15. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) is required
  • Current Texas Optometry License
