Job Title: Ophthalmologist Company: Location: New Orleans, LA Description: The Alexandria VAMC is seeking a full-time board certified or board eligible Ophthalmologist. The Ophthalmologist will deliver care to veterans requiring eye surgery or needing treatment of eye disease. Works with multiple divisions/services through an integrated facility to improve outcomes and efficiencies. Collaborates on a frequent basis with administration, optometry and others to facilitate the operations within the Eye Care program to meet common goals. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating activities of other health service personnel, resolving problems affecting patient care and providing appropriate education for the patient and/or family members regarding the patient's care, patient's illness and its management. Will insure compliance with all applicable accrediting organizational standards delineated from accrediting organizations. Mustbe computer literate with computer skills to access and input electronic medical documentation. Performs the administrative components of patient care management such as dictation of both inpatients and outpatients, including performing C&P exams. Participates in quality improvement activities. Provides clinical coverage as needed.
