This position is accountable for coordinating daily patient activities for the optometric department which includes preparation of patients for physician encounter, maintaining supplies, work areas and equipment for the department, proper recording and reporting of services, instructing patient on the proper care of contact lenses and eye glasses and maintaining contact with patients and other health professionals according to departmental policy and physician direction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Confirms patient appointments Prepares exam rooms for patient care by stocking supplies and setting/up maintaining necessary equipment Aids in establishing schedules for patient care that insure patients are seen in proper sequence and in a timely manner. Prepares charts and monitors documentation of patient contacts Monitors referral dates to insure patient services have been authorized Obtains and records patient preliminary history Performs patient testing as instructed by physician. Testing includes but is not limited to the following: Near and far acuity, depth perception, color perception, visual fields, GDX, applanation tonometry, indentation tonometry and pneumo-tonometry. Confirms accuracy of contact lens and glasses deliveries and dispenses according to physician direction and patient preference.
